Home in Tennessee

Oh this is a beautiful place I call home but everyone’s home is beautiful to them. I can sit on my back deck gazing out over a picturesque landscape which carries my thoughts deep inside what my heart feels.

Watching a bluebird or a robin rush the ground to grab a worm after a fast spring shower to feed the endless chirps coming from the oak tree off to the side. Glancing over at a clay pot of small plants full with brilliant color knowing in a few short weeks, the pots will display God’s natural beauty. A peek up at the sky and white puffy clouds dance slowly by exposing the light blue sky in a color like no other.

I sit with a pad & pen rested on my lap, scribbling thoughts down as I look around. Oh I’ll write something about the birds, the flowers even the skies, it’s just whatever crosses my mind. I call it emptying my thoughts. This little simple gesture allows my mind to open up & free it’s constant impatience to write write write!

Being a wife, a mother and a writer is not an easy task. The daunting daily task of motherhood & wifely hood have their own overbearing issues when you just want to write and forget the laundry! But life is life. So I scribble endlessly watching my little boy splash in the pool while I put new ideas to the pad.

After scribbling a while, I pull out the ole IPad and do my daily tweets, catch up with some Twitter friends, do some retweeting. Go over to the timeline and see what’s shaking which usually brings me many laughs as some things are hilarious. But this is routine, a pattern of sorts I follow just to give my mind relief. My mind says write, my heart says watch the kid in the pool!

I’ve met some great people on twitter, mostly authors & I wonder how they work 8-10 hours a day, come home, do their things required like mowing, just normal chores, then catch a hour to write on their latest book or novel. My thought was clear that even though I don’t work 9-5 (which I did for many years but I wasn’t writing) how the heck they did it! I see now I’m not much different than the working man or woman who writes. I have limited dedicated time o write just as they do. Life is first, writing second.

So as I sit here watching the kid play, I’m writing a blog post, just a simple way to clear out my mind so when it’s bedtime for the kiddo, it’s playtime for the writer side of Wanda!
